Still the Spill, Samford University Undergraduate Project
This was a social issue project for an advertising class. I chose to bring awareness to the negative results of oil spills in the ocean. My mock organization, titled “Still the Spill,” aims to stop, clean, and prevent oil spills. They have special units that individuality focus on the three goals, but they all come together under one company to lower our human damage to the ocean. The “Stop The Spill” team is a collection of environmental lawyers working to attack companies for not taking proper precautions when drilling for oil in the ocean. They collect data and prosecute companies that are not following rules and regulations that are already in place. This team also works to place updated regulations into governments around the world. The “Clean the Spill” team is an on-call disaster response team that responds to any and all oil spills that take place in the ocean. They work tirelessly to find the best way possible to clean up oil spills as quickly as possible. Special members of this team also help collect data as to how and why the oil spill occurred. The “Prevent the Spill” team uses the distribution of products, social media, videos, lectures in business and schools, and advertising to globally educate people about the negative results and encourage them to do something about oil spills. The poster, magazine advertisement, and billboard shown here were part of their advertising campaign to bring on donors to support their cause. Included in the photos are a few rough sketches to show the process of how these creative images came about.
